Los Angeles - July 28, 2007 KCCD successfully hosted its 7th Annual Homeownership Fair last Saturday at Wilshire United Methodist Church with over 800 participants.
Hyepin Im, KCCD CEO & President, said "We were very pleased to see the great turnout of interested homeowners. We were surprised to see that almost half the room raised their hands indicating they were interested in buying a home within the next three months. The American Dream of Homeownership is very much alive even in this market."
Jin Kim, KCCD Executive Director, stated "We were very pleased to have so many great partners supporting this event including our two lead sponsors Washington Mutual and First American Foundation. We were also pleased to have Timothy Chrisman, the Chairman of the Board of Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco join us and express his enthusiasm and support for KCCD's work."
The fair was attended by more than 800 participants and 19 exhibitors. The event started at 9 am, though many participants were eager to enter even before 8:30 in the morning.
Quotes from the participants:
"It was very useful to be able to speak with experts from HUD, Countrywide, and other homeownership related institutions."
"The testimony from the recent KCCD home buyer gave me hope!"
"This event provided a one stop for finding many different resources on homeownership!"
"I am thankful to KCCD for introducing many agencies and organizations in helping low-income families, like myself, to be able to purchase a home."
The plenary sessions covered various topics including homeownership process, foreclosure, the importance of escrow, and government downpayment assistance programs.
Many of the exhibitors, sponsors, and guest speakers expressed enthusiasm for the great turn-out and for the high level of interest demonstrated by the participants at the KCCD fair.
